Type locality: Bombay: Mahim Creek; (Index Nominum Algarum) Type: brackish water; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Lectotype specimen (CESH-5-92, 'Dharavi rd [road], brackish water, 23-12-45' (Karthick et al., 2009; figs 3-6) ? [Karthick et al., 2009: 236 conclude that Ceratoneis iyengarii is a name that refers to the early part of the life-cycle of an as yet unidentified species of Achnanthes.
