Type locality: Hauula, Oahu, Hawaiian Islands (Silva & al. 1996: 184). Holotype: Abbott 1461; BISH 499797 Notes: Womersley (1994: 220) notes that there are isotypes in UC (912181) and BISH.

This is a marine species.
Essentially a tropical species; one southern Australian record, 32-38 m deep (Womersley 1994: 222).
