Type locality: Kapakoia Landing, Pepe'ekeo, Hawai'i Island (19º52'N, 155º6'W) (Huisman, Abbott & Sherwood 2004: 307). Holotype: R. Okano; 25 May 2002; From boulder field at 1.5-3 m depth. IA 28822 (Huisman, Abbott & Sherwood 2004: 307). Notes: Holotype: figs 45, 46. The holotype sheet has three specimens.
