Acrochaetium corymbiferum ( ) 1902
Acrochaetium corymbiferum (Thuret) Batters 1902: 59, 99
Published in: Batters, E.A.L. (1902). A catalogue of the British marine algae being a list of all the species of seaweeds known to occur on the shores of the British Islands, with the localities where they are found. Journal of Botany, British and Foreign 40(Supplement): 1-107.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Colaconema corymbiferum (Thuret) Alongi, Cormaci & G.Furnari
Chantransia corymbifera Thuret
Type locality: "Sur Ceramium rubrum, à très basse mer. Automne. — RRR. — Querqueville (M. Thuret)." (Le Jolis 1863: 107). Notes: Dixon & Irvine (1777: 88): "Holotype: cannot be located; it would seem best to typify by the illustration given by Bornet & Thuret (1876), Pl. V [figs 1-11] (see Dixon 1977). France (Beelle-Ile-en-Mer)." This is essentially a lectotypification with an iconotype; however, the application of this is to be questioned as a different host (Helmithocladia vs Ceramium) is involved.
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), bearing corymbs.

Reported by Abbott (1999) as Acrochaetium corymbifera (Thuret in Le Jolis) Batters. Garbary (1987: 47) list this species as a synonym of Audouiella corymbifera
Basionym: Chantransia corymbifera Thuret in Le Jolis (1863: 107, pro parte (Drew. 1928; Dixon & Irvine, 1977). See Bornet & Thuret (1876). - (11 Aug 2014) - Wendy Guiry
