Adjective A (Latin), pertaining to the Pacific Ocean.

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
On dead abalone shell in a tide pool and on a sponge growing at 2-3 m deep; epiphytic on fleshy red algae; type on a Gelidium-like alga; specimens also recorded growing under corals at depths of 2-7 m (Womersley 1996: 251). Occurs on all parts of windward and leeward reefs, as well as on patch reefs, from the intertidal to at least 35 m depth; in some areas, plants occur on open surfaces, but are best developed when protected among the branches of finger and staghorn corals (Keats et al. 2009).
