This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Imantonia.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dicrateria rotunda (N.Reynolds) El M.Bendif & I.Probert.
Type Information
Type locality: 76°20'N, 13°58'E; (Reynolds 1974: 430) Holotype: fig. 1: 29 August 1968; surface water (temperature: 6°C); (Reynolds 1974: 430) Notes: southwest of Spitsbergen (INA).
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), almost circular, with length breadth ratio of about 6 to 5 (Stearn 1973).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
