Type locality: Charles Island, Galapagos Islands; (Woelkerling 1998: 311) Holotype: collector not indicated but obtained on the Hassler Expedition in; June 1872 (Heydrich, 1901: 533 incorrectly gives the year as 1892). Donated to PC by Farlow in 1889; PC; no. 15, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym) (Woelkerling 1998: 311) Notes: Holotype fragment: TRH, no. 15 (number possibly assigned by Hariot; see acknowledgment by Heydrich, 1901: 529), includes slide 663.
