General Environment
This is a freshwater species.

Description
Filaments 6-8 microns wide. Cells cylindrical, 8-15(-18) microns long. Chloroplast parietal, encircling 50% of the cell lumen, with a smooth margin. Pyrenoid single. Nucleus and nucleolus usually visible. Mucilage pads common. H-shaped wall structures and zoospores not observed. Filaments not easily fragmented in field material.
