Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Thysanocladia is Thysanocladia dorsifera (C.Agardh) Harvey.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Callophycus harveyanus (J.Agardh) P.Silva.

Type locality: Fremantle, Western Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 328) Lectotype: Herb. Agardh, LD; 25565 (Womersley 1994: 337) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Min-thein & Womersley (1976: 27).
