Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chrysymenia is Chrysymenia ventricosa (J.V.Lamouroux) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hooperia divaricata (Durant) M.J.Wynne, C.W.Schneider & G.W.Saunders.

Adjective (Latin), divaricate, spreading at a wide angle (Stearn 1973).
