Type Information
Type locality: Bunbury, Western Australia, Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 93) Lectotype: T. Levring; 21 July 1948 ; littoral basalt rocks; GB (Herb. Levring); (Sutherland et al. 2011: 1139) Notes: This type locality was first described by Womersley & Conway (1975: 63) (Silva et al., 1996) Index Nominum Algarum cites type locality as "Australia: Western Australia (Bunbury; Point Peron; Cottesloe Reef); South Australia (Kangaroo I., Pelican Lagoon)." Womersley (1994: 41) notes that there is an isotype located in AD (A42700).

This is a marine species.

Habitat
Common in the mid eulittoral of calm to moderately rough waters (Womersley 1994: 41).
