The type species (holotype) of the genus Naviculadicta is Naviculadicta vaucheriae (J.B.Petersen) Lange-Bertalot.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Sellaphora subseminulum (Hustedt) C.E.Wetzel.
Origin of Species Name
Noun (Latin), seminulum is the dimunitive of semen, seed; smaller than this (Brown 1946).
