Type locality: "unnamed freshwater reservoir, Marin County, California"; (Jung & al. 2021: 12) Holotype: HBG; 025124 (Jung & al. 2021: 12) Notes: Reference strain: PCC 6712, synonyms ATCC 27176, CCAP 1411/2, originally reported as Chlorogloea sp. [5], originally isolated by R. Kunisawa in 1967.
