Holotype locality: "The Midden", Three Mile Rocks, Beachport, South Australia; (Woelkerling & Campbell 1992: 56) Holotype: S.J. Campbell & D. Penrose; 26 February 1988; 3-6 m deep on snail shells; LTB; 15676 (Woelkerling & Campbell 1992: 56) Notes: The type collection consists of plants growing on the snail Turbo undulatum Woelkerling & Campbell 1992: 60).

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Found on snails, mussel shells, holdfasts of the brown alga Ecklonia radiata and on the red alga Osmundaria at depth of 1-11 m (Womersly 1996: 223).
