The type species (holotype) of the genus Chantransia is Chantransia nigricans De Candolle.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Acrochaetium luxurians (J.Agardh ex Kützing) Nägeli.

Type locality: Sweden: "ad litora Scaniae" ; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype: Agardh's collection; LD35117 (Clayden & Saunders 2014: 227) Notes: Type: L (INA). Clayden & Saunders (2014: 228) note that they used specimens from Agardh's collections in Lund, Sweden, because original material could not be located in the Kützing collection in the Netherlands.
