The type species (lectotype) of the genus Radaisia is Radaisia gomontiana Sauvageau.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pleurocapsa fremyi Bourrelly.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), violet, refers to the blue-red colours nearer blue (Stearn 1973).
