Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Corallina is Corallina officinalis Linnaeus.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Metagoniolithon chara (Lamarck) Ducker.

Type locality: "Habite ... les mers de la Nouvelle-Hollande? Péron et Lesueur. Ma Collection."; (Lamarck 1815: 240) Holotype: Péron & Lessueur; PC; (Womersly & Johansen 1996: 323) Notes: Probably from Rottnest I. (or Shark Bay), Western Australia (Womersly & Johansen in Womersley 1996).
