(2010: 523). Epitype: stub # 4263 made from sample LPC 4263, deposited in the Coleccion de Diatomeas at the Departamento Cientifico Ficologia, Falcultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo, Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Epitype locality: Pinamar, Buenos Aires Province.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), pierced with holes or pores or sprinkled with translucent dots (Stearn 1973).
