This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepocinclis fusiformis (H.J.Carter) Lemmermann.

Type locality: near Hung Pan Ch'iao and Shai Pu Ch'ang, Nanking; (Index Nominum Algarum)
Origin of Species Name
Adjective B (Latin), fusiform; swollen at the middle and tapering to each end like a spindle; narrowly ellipsoid (Stearn 1973).
