Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Chylocladia is Chylocladia kaliformis (Goodenough & Woodward) Hooker.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Coeloclonium tasmanicum (Harvey) Womersley.

General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Variable in robustness, the slender specimens occurring in sheltered waters and robust ones on rough-water coasts; it occurs from low tide level to 20 m deep (Womersley 2003: 413).
