This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chlamydomonas subfusiformis Gerloff.

Type locality: "C. fusiformis ist nur in der Kultur einer Erdprobe gefunden, die aus einer Dünenniederung bei Nørre L y n g v i g (nahe Ringkjøbing) stammt." [Jutland]; (Petersen 1932: 400)

Origin of Species Name
Adjective B (Latin), fusiform; swollen at the middle and tapering to each end like a spindle; narrowly ellipsoid (Stearn 1973).
