Type locality: Sri Lanka; (Silva & al. 1996: 505) Notes: Wynne et al. ( 2005: 499) note that there are isotypes: Harvey's Ceylon Algae, No 17 (in Herbarium Thuret held in PC unnumbered sheet); Harveys's Ceylon Algae, No 17 (MICH).

Adjective A (Latin), Of (from) Ceylon, an island in the Indian Ocean off southern India (cf. ceylonensis & ceylonicus).
