The type species (lectotype) of the genus Biddulphia is Biddulphia pulchella S.F.Gray.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tabulina costata (Boyer) P.A.Sims & M.P.Ashworth.

Type locality: Barbados; (Boyer 1922: 2) Notes: "Material observed: ANSP Boyer P-7-3 Chimborazo, Barbados." (Sims & al. 2022: 11).

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), ribbed, having one or more primary veins or ridges (Stearn 1973).
