The type species (holotype) of the genus Navicula is Navicula tripunctata (O.F.Müller) Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Craticula glaberrima (West & G.S.West) Van de Vijver, Kopalová, Zidarova & E.J.Cox.
