Description: Cells lack flagella but have thin, radiating rhizopodia, metabolic, united into linear or branched colonies by means of plasma bridges. One parietal chloroplast with or without stigma. Reproduction by division. No flagellated stages. Sexual reproduction not observed. Stomatocysts globular. Found in freshwater phytoplankton in Europe and North America
