Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Surirella is Surirella striatula Turpin.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Iconella capronii (Brébisson & Kitton) Ruck & Nakov.

Syntype localities: Falaise in Normandy, France (de Brébisson); probably Surrey, England (Dr Capron); (Kitton 1869: 61)
