The type species (holotype) of the genus Chrysochromulina is Chrysochromulina parva Lackey.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Haptolina herdlensis (B.Leadbeater) Edvardsen & Eikrem.

Type locality: 30 km NW of Bergen, Norway; (Index Nominum Algarum) Type: drawing of Fig. 1E: seawater sample from 5 m; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Found 8 August 1970 in seawater sample (INA) [= collection date?].
