Nomenclatural note
Illegitimate: Invalid when originally introduced by Butcher (1959) as no type was designated. McFadden, Hill & Wetherbee (1986) validates the invalided Butcher name by designating a type. However, the latter authors included Pyramimonas plurioculata Butcher 1959, a valid name as it is typified by a single gathering (Art. 8) as a synonym, which renders Pyramimonas orientalis Butcher ex McFadden, Hill & Wetherbee illegitimate. - (19 July 2011) - M.D. Guiry
