Abstract:
A new species of Roperia——R. latiovala is described. Samples weretaken from the East China Sea, in December, 1981.Roperia latiovala sp. nov. Fig.1-5Cells disk-shaped, rectangular in girdle view. Valves flat, broad oval, with diameter from 100-116?m. Pervalvar axis usually 1/4 diameter. The areales size unequal on whole valve, about 6-7 in 10?m. Radial rows not distinct, areales in center unirregula. The pseudodulus is noticeable on eroded valves in SEM and LM, it is near the edge of narrow end of the valve.Foramina are internal and vela external.Labiate processes are located on mantle and their interval distance are not identical .These processes have long slits and short tubes at their base.The type location for this species is lat. 32°45'N,127°00' E. Type(81-12-C5-13) are placed in the Department of Marine Biology, Shandong College of Oceanology.
