Taxonomic status: This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pneophyllum.

Gender: This genus name is currently treated as neuter.

Most recent taxonomic treatment adopted: Schneider, C.W. & Wynne, M.J. (2007). A synoptic review of the classification of red algal genera a half a century after Kylin's "Die Gattungen der Rhodophyceen". Botanica Marina 50: 197-249.

Taxonomic note
According to Chamberlain (1983) and Schneider & Wynne (2007: 202), this is congeneric with Pneophyllum Kützing. Chamberlain (1983: 312) notes that Setchell & Mason (1943) designated H. subtilissima (Foslie) Foslie as the type species, without actually seeing a specimen and that examination of the type specimen shows it to be a minute Pneophyllum. - (11 October 2010) - G.M.
