Unraveling the Asteromenia peltata species complex with clarification of the genera Halichrysis and Drouetia (Rhodymeniaceae, Rhodophyta). Canadian Journal of Botany 84: 1581-1607, 83 figs, 3 tables.

Nomenclatural note
Drouetia is a substitute name for Herpophyllon Farlow (1902: 97), which is treated as a homonym (see Art. 53.3) of Herpophyllum, a name applied by J. Agardh (1894b: 62) to a genus of Rhodophyceae of uncertain position (Kylin, 1956: 558-559). - (07 July 2006) - G.M. Guiry

Taxonomic note
Saunders et al. (2006) presented convincing morphological and tetrasporangial evidence to support the reinstatement of Drouetia as a distinct genus, rather than being a synonym of Halichrysis as proposed by Norris and Millar in Norris (1991). In their synoptic review of red algal genera, Schneider & Wynne (2007) follow Saunders et al. (2006) in treating both genera as current. - (12 June 2012) - M.D. Guiry
