According to Kawai & Nakayama (2015: 115) "A single strain of Chloridella neglecta (Pascher & Geitler) Pascher, which is the type species of the taxon; obviously (Mesquita & Santos Dias 1995) shows characters that link it to the Eustigmatophyceae, whereas other strains and other members of the genus are clearly belonging to the Xanthophyceae/Tribophyceae (Hibberd & Leedale 1971b)." - (08 October 2021) - M.D. Guiry
