Taxonomic note
"Assignment of this genus to kinetoplastids is not justified, since its "kinetoplast", as judged by Feulgen staining, does not contain DNA. The presence of cortical membranous sacs, micropores and a striated rootlet strongly suggest that this flagellate is a member of Alveolata Cavalier-Smith, 1991" (Kostygov 2021: 21). - (17 March 2021) - M.D. Guiry
