Nomenclatural note
Gaillonella Bory de St.-Vincent, Dict. Class. Hist. Nat. 7: 101. 5 Mar 1825 is an illegitimate name for Lysigonium Link 1820 (both have the same type "Le type du genre est le Conferva moniliformis de Müller (V. Planches de ce Dictionnaire), à laquelle on ne voit pas pourquoi Lyngbye {Tent., p. 274 1, d'après Dillwyn , a donné le nom de lineata."), itself a rejected name for Melosira C.Agardh, nom. cons. Also rendered "Gallionella" which is incorrect as the honouree was François Benjamin Gaillon (1782-1839). - (30 June 2013) - M.D. Guiry
