Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Navicula is Navicula tripunctata (O.F.Müller) Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Krsticiella meadeeensis (Foged) M.Potapova.

Type locality: Alaska: unnamed freshwater lake of the Meade River, The Northern Slope; (Index Nominum Algarum) Type: July 19, 1963; C (Foged's coll.); slide 358/1963 (Potapova 2019: 109, 110, fig 15) Notes: Unnamed freshwater lake located at 70°28'N, 157°25'W (probably Ikmakrak lake) (Potapova, 2019).
