Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Oikomonas is Oikomonas mutabilis Kent.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Heterochromulina ocellata (Scherffel) Pascher.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), marked with two-coloured spots, having the centre of one colour surrounded by a broad ring of another (Stearn 1973).
