Emended description (Demchenko et al. 2012: 286).
Type locality: Sweden: Lushavet (Silva 1996-to date). Lectotype: Skuj 1956: pl. 18, fig. 26: strain SAG 8.87 (cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen) in the Sammlung von Algenkulturen, Univ. of Gottingen, Germany (epitype) (Demchenko et al. 2012: 286). Notes: ITS-2 DNA Barcode: Barcode J in Fig. E (Demchenko et al. 2012).
