The type species (holotype) of the genus Amphitetras is Amphitetras antediluviana Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pseudostictodiscus parallelus (Ehrenberg) A.Cleve.

Lectotype locality: "E marga Graeciae" [subfossil marine material collected in Greece].; (Jahn & Kusber 2006: 532) Notes: Lectotype (designated by Jahn & Kusber 2006: 532): preparation No. 310916-a, marked with a blue ring, in BHUPM (Fig. 10-11).
