Type information
Lectotype locality: 'American seas, particularly near the Bahama Islands' (Leliaert & al. 2007: 718). Lectotype: Ellis; (Leliaert & al. 2007: 718). Notes: Leliaert et al. (2007: 718) note that, according to Dixon (1960: 28-31), the collections of Ellis are considered lost; since the figures, given with the original description, are of good quality, it is proposed to designate these as the nomenclatural type.
