Type species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chaetomorpha is Chaetomorpha melagonium (F.Weber & D.Mohr) Kützing.

This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.

Conferva coliformis Montagne

Type information
Type locality: said to be Toud Island (Warrior Islet, Torres Strait, Australia), but probably near Hobart, Tasmania (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 762). Type: PC (Womersley 1984: 172). Notes: Silva et al. recommend consulting Womersley (1984: 172) for further details regarding this type locality.
