Type locality: Germany: North Friesian Islands; Kniepsand beach, Amrum Island (54°37'N, 08°22'E); (Index Nominum Algarum) Holotype: F. Hinz; [May 1999 and May 2001]; from brown patches on relatively dry sand above neap tide level at southern tip of beach; BRM; 467/22 (Crawford & Hinz 2004: 1, 2, fig. 2) Notes: Living cell micrographs obtained for May 2001 sample.
