General Environment
This is a marine species.
Description
Cells always solitary, uniflagellate, apple-shaped, 7-8 microns long, 9-10 microns wide. About 12 tentacles present around flagellum. Stalk straight, never branched. Six chloroplasts without pyrenoids. Body and flagellar scales absent. Cells free-swimming or sometimes sessile, attaching to substratum with stalk. Cells phagotrophic. Cysts unknown.
