Type locality: Europe; Russia; Argentina; North America; India (Silva 1996-to date). Lectotype: fig. 3 in pl. XX in Stein (1878): fig. 3r; see below (epitype) (Lukomska-Kowalczyk et al. 2015: 1153). Notes: Representative DNA sequence: GenBank KP944094. Representative locality: freshwater, pond (no. 20) in Urwitalt village, Masurian Lake District (53°50'60.0[?]"N, 21°38'17.5"E).
