Taxonomic note
Womersley (1998: 259) notes that "The lectotype in Herb. Harvey, may be only a form of M. feredayae, but appears to be a softer, more mucilaginous, plant. M. sarcocaulon has been recorded from other parts of southern Australia, and such specimens are here regarded as forms of M. feredayae. Fresh collections from the Fremantle region are needed to clarify the status of M. sarcocaulon." - (19 January 2009) - G.M. Guiry
