Type locality: Bahusia: prope Christineberg, Fiskebäckskil [Sweden] (Fries 1845: 129). Lectotype: BM 013734109 (Hughey & al. 2019: fig. S6). Notes: Isolectotypes distributed as Algae Scandinavicae No. 224.

Adjective (Latin), stipitate, provided with a stalk or a little stipe (Stearn 1985).
