Perestenko (1986: 95, fig. 5) in proposing the transfer of Pugetia palmatifolia to Hommersandia failed to cite the page of publication of the basionym and thus did not satisfy the requirements of the ICBN (Art. 33.2); the combination was validatad by Selivanova & Zhigadlova (1997: 17), - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Gabrielson, Widdowson & Lindstrom (2006: 148, footnote): "Critical examination of the type material of Pugetia palmatifolia Tokida [=Hommersandia palmatifolia (Tokida) Perestenko] from Saghalien is required to confirm the conspecificity of tis species with eastern Pacific H. maximicarpa, as proposed by Perestenko (1986) and followed by Wynne & Heine (1992)." - (24 August 2006) - G.M.
