Neotype locality: Nord-Ost Watt, Helgoland (Brodie & Irvine 1997: 769). Neotype: A. Wagner; 17 October 1996; BM (Brodie & Irvine 1997: 769). Notes: The original material, now lost, was collected at Eckwarden, Niedersachsen, Germany. BM000054930 (Sutherland et al. 2011).

Adjective (Latin), purple (Stearn 1973).
