This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chondria dasyphylla (Woodward) C.Agardh
Lectotype locality: Yarmouth, Norfolk, England (Silva & al. 1996: 481). Neotype: BM-K (Maggs & Hommersand 1993: 390). Notes: Type locality recorded by Maggs & Hommersand (1993: 390) as Essex (Yarmouth); undated, Turner. Syntype localities: Cromer and Yarmouth, Norfolk, England (South & Skelton, 2003).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), With markedly hairy leaves (Stearn 1985).
