Holotype locality: Bermuda, Sargasso Sea, Atlantic Ocean; (Ota, Ueda & Ishida 2007: 336) Holotype: Open-ocean water; TNS; AL-53987 (Ota, Ueda & Ishida 2007: 336, 334) Notes: Holotype: One slide of fixed and embedded amoeboid/coccoid cells has been deposited at the Department of Botany, National Science Museum, Tokyo (TNS). Isotype: KANA 207917 (one slide of amoeboid/coccoid cells). Paratypes: TNS-AL-53988 (one EM block of amoeboid/cocoid cells), TNS-AL-53989 (one slide of flagellate cells). Strain CCMP242, isolated by Phillip Cook, was obtained from CCMP.
