Published in: Wollaston, E.M. (1981 '1980'). Descriptions of two new genera, Scageliopsis and Glandothamnus (Ceramiaceae, Rhodophyta), including five previously undescribed species from Southern Australia. Pacific Science 34: 109-127.

Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Glandothamnus is Glandothamnus ramulentus Wollaston.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pterothamnion manifestum (Wollaston) Athanasiadis & Kraft.

Type locality: Woody Island, D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Tasmania, Australia; (Athanasiadis 1996: 69) Holotype: Shepherd; 17 February 1972; 0-2 m deep (probably epiphytic); AD; A41641 (Womersley 1998: 145) Notes: Type locality: Satellite I., D'Entrecasteaux Ch., Tas. (Womersley, 1998: 145).
